Google is the most used search engine in the world and can be a great tool for business owners. When you create a Business Profile, your business can be found through Google Map searches, you can list your business contact information, add photos of your products and services, collect reviews from customers, add interactive features for customers to book appointments and so much more.

With these benefits in mind, it is definitely worthwhile for businesses to create a Business Profile. This short guide will walk you through the steps to get started. It’s very simple, however, if you would like us to do it with you, we are happy to walk you through it. See our support pricing and save 10% off your first request.

Here’s How

1. Create a Google Business Profile

  1. Log into your Google account or create one.
  2. Go to Google Business Profile and search for your business name.
  3. Click Create a business with this name and follow the prompts to complete.
  4. Enter your business name and continue as prompted.
  5. Choose the business category(s) that best matches your business and fill in any category-specific content.
  6. Add your contact information and website URL.
  7. Click Finish and you will be required to verify your business before your listing is made public.

A couple of things to consider

  • If your business already exists, find it and choose Manage this listing to claim it.
  • We highly recommend you use a Google Workspace account
  • If you have a home-based business, you can hide your address.
  • The verification process is determined by Google, and will be via a method specified during the setup process(e.g. postcard, video, etc.).

The more information you add to your profile the easier it will be for your customers to know how to get in touch with you.  Being complete, accurate, and consistent across all digital platforms helps you build a strong brand presence and optimize your profile for local SEO.

2. Customize Your Profile on Google Business Profile

  1. Log into your Google account.
  2. Find the Google Apps button usually found at the top.
  3. Click the Business Profile icon.
  4. On the dashboard, click Info on the left (or Business info on the mobile device menu) then begin filling in your details.
  5. Write an engaging description that captures the interest of new and existing customers.
  6. Add a cover photo and logo in Photos. Be sure to include photos of the services or products you offer, as well as your physical store if you have one.
  7. If you have a website, be sure to list it on your Business Profile.
  8. Add a short name to make sharing your profile easier.
